ABOUT OUR HANDCRAFTED DECORATIVE COPPER
AND
BRASS MAILBOXES
...WHEN THE QUALITY DOES MATTER... |
|
We offer each customer the largest selection of
antique brass and copper decorative mailboxes online. Here,
antiqued mailboxes are crafted in your choice of solid brass or
solid copper. We manufacture what we sell and ship them off to
you within twelve business days on virtually all orders.
All of our brass and
copper mailboxes are
handcrafted using only materials that will never rust. Then the patination
of each mailbox is done in a purposeful way as to show age. This
allows each brass and copper mailbox
to blend in gracefully with the homes that already exhibit this
characteristic of refinement. Not all of our brass
mailboxes and copper mailboxes are
engraved. We also have available non engraved mailboxes in each
size category. Our non engraved mailboxes come in either a
lacquered or unlacquered finish.
Lastly, you also have a choice as to the
shape
of your mailbox. All these options come
at no extra charge and only add to the weathered appeal of our mailboxes.
Our curbside copper
and brass mailboxes are
made to the same standards as our wall mount mailboxes. All of our
curbside mailboxes give
you the choice of four different
flag colors.
To maintain the appeal of
our decorative mailboxes, artificial means (tinted paint, electroplating,
etc.) are never employed to mask over appearances of
imperfections that may be present, no matter how slight.

Why a brass or copper mailbox?
Because they simply will not rust as steel does. But the natural
beauty of a brass or copper mailbox is just
as important. The hinges on our wall mailboxes are of solid
brass. We do not use hinges that are only brass plated. Seams
are soldered and reinforced with rivets in certain spots.
Our curbside mailboxes use only rivet construction. Our rivets
are either solid brass or solid copper, depending again upon
which mailbox you choose. In short, all the materials that make
up each copper and brass mailbox will not rust like steel.
In order for each wall brass and copper mailbox to properly
stand off the wall and make installation easier, a minimum of
six dimples have been shaped into the rear of each mailbox. Of
course each wall mailbox is
also supplied with the solid brass screws necessary to complete
the installation in wood characteristic wall surfaces. For an
added convenience, we have also included the masonry screws
necessary to complete the mailbox installation in concrete,
block, and brick characteristic wall surfaces. Our curbside
mailboxes include a solid oak mounting plate with necessary
brass hardware.
We also offer
address signs for
your home or business.

The various patterns on the front of each handcrafted engraved mailbox are actual engravings that cut
through the antiqued surface of the brass and copper to reveal the
shiny brass and copper below.
Copper Jungle has perfected the antiquing of brass and copper mailboxes into an art. Imagine a brand new penny in
your hand. We can dip this penny into a solution that, within
seconds, changes the penny's color to look as it would be many
years old or just a few weeks old. The dipping of each brass
mailbox and copper mailbox speeds up the antiquing to achieve a
level that would take a thousand times longer in the atmosphere
alone. Copper Jungle can dip a mailbox to achieve almost any
color variation possible. From deep reds to aubergine velvets,
we have you covered. Solid brass and copper unencumbered. So
this is what is done with our residential mailboxes.
A UV resistant lacquer gloss clear coat is then applied to each mailbox to preserve the look. Without
this clear coat, the decorative mailboxes would continue to
antique beyond what you originally wanted. The premium lacquer we
use is also highly resistant to both water and chemicals. Our
The Natural is available lacquered or
non lacquered, in order to
allow this changing effect for our customers who may choose
this. OK, enough about science. No two mailboxes are ever
exactly alike.
We ship our mailboxes worldwide.
All of our mailboxes are made right here in the USA. |

ABOUT COPPER AND BRASS
Copper is
man's oldest metal. It goes back to more than 7,000
years. As we said, copper will not rust like ordinary
steel. About half the copper produced today comes from
recycled copper. One reason copper recycling is so
successful is due to the fact that copper has reasonable
monetary worth. So much so that it is one of the
commodities traded on leading worldwide exchanges such as
the
New York Mercantile Exchange.
Brass is simply copper with Zinc
added to it. It too will not rust like ordinary steel.
Brass is a little bit stronger, in some regards, than copper.
It is for this reason that solid brass hinges are also used on
our copper
mailboxes also.
Did you
know that today's US quarter is made up of about 92% copper?
So is the US dime. On the other hand, the penny is only 2.5% copper.
How is this when the penny looks like copper? The penny is
actually copper plated over zinc
(see).
